Red Bull Ampol Racing unveils 2023 Supercars livery

Red Bull Ampol Racing has revealed its eye-catching 2023 Supercars Championship livery, that will feature on the team’s two Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros, designed by renowned motorsport livery designer Peter Hughes.

The team will charge into the season with an unchanged driver lineup, with three-time Supercars Champion Shane van Gisbergen and 2022 Adelaide 500 winner Broc Feeney. Both drivers’ first running of their new Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1’s was held at Queensland Raceway on February 14, with both cars clocking up a combined 650 kilometers of on-track testing in an eye catching test livery.

“I think the new cars look cool, especially the shape of it,” commented van Gisbergen. “The colours on the car are quite a big change for us this year as the last few years have been quite similar. The blue and red, mixed together with the white roof looks tough.

“The design and engineering team at Triple Eight have done a huge amount of work for the category along with a couple of other teams, but our mechanics have also done some crazy hours the last couple of months. The whole team has done a great job to get these cars ready the last couple of years. When we rolled out at our first test day, the cars ran faultlessly, so that was awesome and a testament to their work.”

The team will also enter 2023 with an unchanged race engineering line up, with Andrew Edwards working alongside van Gisbergen in the #97 Camaro, and Martin Short continuing as Feeney’s race engineer in the #88 Camaro. Both engineers will continue to work under the guidance of the team’s Technical Director, Jeromy Moore, and Team Manager, Mark Dutton.

“(Andrew Edwards) was an awesome addition to our team last year – he’s really committed, and we get along well. He’s taught me a lot and pushed me to be better, and I’d love to keep improving on that relationship and get better and better.

“It’s great to have our naming rights partners in Ampol and Red Bull on board for another season, as well as having the likes of Local Legends and Quad Lock join the team this year – it’s great to have their support.”

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s upcoming test days are earmarked for February 22 at Sydney Motorsport Park, and 27-28 February at Queensland Raceway. Round 1 of the 2023 Supercars Championship begins on the streets of Newcastle on 10-12 March.
