Scott McLaughlin will be looking to extend his lead in the Australia Supercars Championship at Barbagallo Raceway in Western Australia. The Shell V-Power Racing Ford driver had a perfect weekend at the last round at Phillip Island where he twice qualified fastest and went on to win both races.
He currently leads the championship on 150 points with Erebus Racing’s David Reynolds second (138 points), Rick Kelly from Castrol Racing in third (129 points) and McLaughlin’s team mate Fabian Coulthard in fourth (120 points).
Barbagallo is a short track with just seven corners and can be lapped under a minute. Drivers and teams face qualifying and a 50 lap race on Saturday followed by qualifying and a 83 lap race on Sunday.
While the new ZB Holden Commodore has proved very competitive this season, Barbagallo has favoured Ford teams with the last seven pole positions going to Ford drivers.
