It’s short track time for Shane van Gisbergen this weekend who will make his second NASCAR Cup Series start at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina, competing in the Window World 450. In 2025, van Gisbergen qualified on the pole for the All-Star Open. He led the first 54 laps but ultimately finished 13th after losing track position on a mandatory pitstop.
“I had a good time there last year,” commented SVG. “It was a fun track, cool with the elevation and stuff, with the breaking, gear changing sometimes. I enjoy that place. I’m doing the Truck race there this weekend too, so it will be really cool.”
Van Gisbergen will also make his third NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start of the 2026 season this weekend at North Wilkesboro, piloting the No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado. His best finish this season came at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International on May 8 where he scored a third-place finish. He finished 15th in his most recent Truck Series start at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on May 24 in a time shortened race.
He will sport a new livery this weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Wendy’s®, the popular restaurant chain known for their square hamburgers made with fresh, never frozen beef* will ride on the No. 97 for 450 laps this Sunday. North Wilkesboro marks the first time van Gisbergen will pilot the Wendy’s livery this season.
Point Standings: Van Gisbergen enters this weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway 15th in the Cup Series driver standings, 31 points above The Chase cutline.
