The 2018 Formula One season is heading to be a stand out if only drivers Romain Grosjean and Sergey Sirotkin step up. So far all drivers bar the two mentioned have scored points and we are only four Grand Prix into a 21 race season.
Should Grosjean and Sirotkin score points, this will be the first F1 Grand Prix season where every driver has done so. The current system was introduced in the 2010 season, where points for both driver and constructor titles are awarded for the top ten finishing drivers.
The ‘Kicker’ to this is that generally not all drivers starting the season compete in every Grand Prix. In 2017 we saw Pierre Gasly join the Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 Team late in the season, competing in five races with our own Brendon Hartley joining him for the final four Grand Prix. Jenson Button replaced Fernando Alonso for the Monaco Grand Prix when the later competed at the Indianapolis 500 and Paul di Resta had a one-off race in Hungry with Williams F1.
