Liam Lawson’s strong showing and consistent performance over the last two Formula One Grand Prix also means he hasn’t added to his penalty points score. Sitting on a total of six, if Lawson accumulates 12-points within a 12-month timeframe, he will receive a one-race ban. Penalty points gained, stay on a drivers Super License for 12 months, then automatically drop off.

More of a worry is Max Verstappen’s score of 11-points, having gained three from his contact with George Russell’s Mercedes during the Spanish Grand Prix last Sunday.
With the accumulation of points over a 12-month period, Verstappen will have two points which expire on 30 June 2025, meaning should he avoid any further points at this month’s Canadian (13-15 June) and Austrian Grands Prix (27-29 June), he would not reach the threshold for a suspension unless he receives three or more points before 27 October. Once he hits 12-points, he will face an immediate one-race ban and his points score goes back to zero.
Kevin Magnussen was the first driver to receive a one-race ban afyer reaching the 12-point mark last September.
Lawson will have two of his points expiring 1 December 2025, 12-months after he gained these for causing a collision with Valtteri Bottas during the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix.
