Cassidy back in DTM action at the Lausitzring

Kiwi driver Nick Cassidy will launch his 2022 DTM campaign in the first German round at the Lausitzring this weekend as Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse teammate Felipe Fraga looks to build on his excellent Race 2 second place at the first round in Portimão.

No stranger to DTM, Cassidy, previously drove at the final DTM round of 2021, and he now continues for six of the eight outings in 2022.  In addition to driving the #37 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020, Cassidy will have further AF Corse outings by complementing his DTM programme as part of the Italian team’s FIA World Endurance Championship lineup.

“I’m feeling really good about heading into my first DTM race, very excited,” commented Cassidy.  “I followed the Portimão weekend and I can’t wait to get in the car myself. I want to do the best job I can for all the races, and with DTM being so competitive, this season it will be important to put everything together. That is my target.”

At just over 4.5 kilometres, the technical tri-oval at the Lausitzring features 12 turns in a configuration that was introduced only last season. Turn One is a 300-metre left-hander that piles on the drama, with banking of almost six degrees and the ability for cars to squeeze in three abreast.

Each of the DTM season’s eight rounds features two sprint races of 55 minutes plus one lap. The grid takes off at the Lausitzring at 1:30pm local time on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.
