They say “you have to be in it to win it,” and Broc Feeney has won it with a shock Repco Sprint Cup win on Sunday at Queensland Raceway.
Feeney entered today 110 points behind Kiwi Matt Payne, before the latter suffered an electrical problem mid-race and was forced to retire.
The 23-year old Queenslander then won Race 28 at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440, taking Sprint Cup honours from Payne by 30 points.
It makes for back-to-back Sprint Cup wins for Feeney, who has now won in his 50th, 100th, and 150th race starts.
Dick Johnson Racing driver Brodie Kostecki finished second to complete a shining weekend, while Toowoomba’s Will Brown rounded out the podium in third.
At the end of play in Ipswich, Feeney, Payne, Kostecki, and Cam Waters have all now mathematically punched their tickets to the Supercars Finals.
By winning the Sprint Cup, Feeney also earns 25 bonus points for the start of the Finals, which kicks off on the Gold Coast in October.

With the Sprint Cup now complete, attention turns to endurance racing and the Ryco Enduro Cup.
The Repco Supercars Championship now heads to South Australia for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend, September 11-13 at The Bend Motorsport Park.
