Kiwi karters Ryan Grant and Liam Sceats will be back in action in Australia this weekend, contesting the third round of the Australian Kart Championship at Monarto in South Australia.
Having competed in both previous rounds of the new – now five-round – series, Grant currently lies seventh in the KZ2 class points standings and having been on the podium (with a third place) at the opening round at Dubbo in February, is keen to do even better this weekend.
“We’ve finally had a good test with the tyre we use over there,” he said before leaving home this week,” and made some good headway on chassis setup so that should help.”
Having missed the second round of the Australian series because it clashed with our own Giltrap Group 2016 Sprint Nationals meeting in Hamilton, Liam Sceats has some catching up to do points-wise at Manarto. But the young Auckland driver, who competes in the Cadet 12 class across the Tasman, is currently on the top of his game here, recently winning his class (Cadet ROK) at the multi-round Bayley’s Goldstar series, and at the opening round of the CRC Speedshow Top Half Series.
This weekend’s round of the Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol Edge has attracted over 200 karters from all over Australia – plus the two from New Zealand – to the Monarto Karting Complex south-west of Adelaide.
