Racing Bull’s Liam Lawson has continued his solid form leading up to the 2025 British Grand Prix, finishing in the top ten in both Friday practice sessions at Silverstone. The Kiwi finished eighth in FP1 and tenth in FP2.
“It’s a solid start to the weekend, it’s been very close on track, similar to last weekend,” commented Lawson. “We need to keep chasing just like everyone else, but it’s a good starting place.
“We’ve been making small changes between sessions and fine-tuning the setup. The wind is really gusty right now and it’s throwing off the balance, but the car feels incredibly quick.
“It’s my first time driving here in a Formula One car, and it’s an amazing experience. Hopefully, we can have another strong practice session and put ourselves in a good position to fight for Q3 tomorrow.”
Lawson’s teammate Isack Hadjar finished sixth and ninth fastest while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton topped FP1 ahead of the two McLaren’s of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Hamilton stayed in the mix topping third quickest time in FP2 behind teammate Charles Leclerc with Norris fastest.
Racing Bull’s Race Director, Alan Permane appeared happy with Lawson’s and Hadjar’s first outing on the Silverstone circuit in a Formula One car. “A positive start to the weekend; both in FP1 and FP2 the drivers were generally happy with their cars, especially in the very high-speed corners here.
“The car is working well, but we’ve got a little bit of work to do in the low speed in terms of improving the balance, for both single lap and long run pace. We will run some simulations overnight and I’m confident we can improve for FP3. We evaluated both the medium and the soft tyre for the race and we’ll crunch the numbers to develop further our race strategy for Sunday.”
