Racing heads to Texas this weekend for the second North American trip in short succession, the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas.

Following the event in Mexico City two weeks ago, the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) travels 1,500km north to the city of Austin for round six of the 2016 season on Saturday 17 September.

“Austin is a great city that we all love returning to,” commented Brendon Hartley. “COTA is my favourite of the new style F1 tracks, because it has a little bit of everything. We have good memories from our very dominant victory last year. After the race in Mexico I went to meet my brother and a friend in the San Francisco area to be a tourist for a couple of days. Then focussing again on Austin: Sights are set on the middle step of the podium.”

The demanding track is known as the favourite of the modern Formula One circuits. High ambient temperatures can be expected and the timing for the race provides an extra challenge: The six-hour race will start at 17:00 hours with sunset being at 19:32 hours.

Porsche leads the manufacturers’ world championship after having won four races in 2016 – Silverstone, Le Mans, the Nürburgring and Mexico City.

For Toyota GAZOO Racing another podium finish is the target, following a competitive showing in Mexico which saw the #6 TS050 HYBRID of Stéphane Sarrazin, Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi take third place and move into second in the drivers’ World Championship.

The team will be back to full strength again, with Anthony Davidson returning after he missed the last race due to bruised ribs. He joins Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima in the #5, which did not finish in Mexico due to a technical issue.
