American based Kiwi driver Ryan Yardley has won the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Pro Class title with a clean sweep of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas, Austin Texas. Yardley repeated his victory in Saturday’s race, taking a lights-to-flag win in Race 2 on Sunday, earning his third win of the season in a 35-minute contest that saw title rival Riley Dickinson finish third.

Dickinson applied pressure to the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Zachary Vanier at the start, although the latter managed to finish the race second, 0.905 seconds behind Yardley.

The Texan later came under attack from the No. 77 Topp entry of Tyler Maxson, although Dickinson consolidated his position in the second half of the race, re-applying pressure to Vanier.

“Unbelievable,” said Yardley talking to Joanathan Green. “Here we are back here in Austin, three years ago to the day I met my sponsor and team owner David Baker from TCS. It’s unbelievable that here we are three-years later with the championship in our hands.

“We came into the weekend almost tied on points so for me it was a massive reset. I just had to execute; the team did an awesome job. To get double pole on Saturday morning helped set up the weekend so absolutely stoked.”
