After Round 8, Chris VAN DER DRIFT of #KamlungRacing has advanced his lead in the overall championship and heads to the final stretch of the season on 167 points to Philip Hamprecht of #TeamStarChase in second on 148 points. After his podium appearance in Singapore, Martin Ragginger of #TeamPorscheHolding has also started to slash points between himself and Hamprecht, and heads to Malaysia still in third, now on 125 points.

Lights out and off they went for Round 8. In the first row, Philip Hamprecht and Chris VAN DER DRIFT launched off the line, with Hamprecht maintaining his P1 position through the first few corners. But van der Drift was ready to strike and dove past the #TeamStarChase on the inside to overtake the lead in lap 1—a lead the #KamlungRacing driver then protected through the finish line.

But with clean air in front of him, the battles behind him continued. Martin Ragginger of #TeamPorscheHolding, who started from P3 on the grid and P3 in the championship heading into the race, was eager to collect as many points as possible and to do so, charged past Hamprecht for second. That move then left Will Bamber of #EarlBamberMotorsport incredibly close to third, and then after multiple attempts, Bamber shot up the inside to clinch third in Round 8.
