Van der Drift wins third Carrera Cup Asia title

Kiwi driver Chris van der Drift has won his third Porsche Carrera Cup Asia driver’s title after securing enough points in the penultimate race of the 2018 series. The 2015 and 2017 title holder won round 11 with a a stunning lights to flag performance to take the overall championship title, making history as the first driver ever in the series to win three times.

In qualifying, van der Drift put in an impressive 2:08.027 to secure pole for Round 11 and started the race alongside fellow Kiwi Will Bamber of #EarlBamberMotorsport (2:08.297). Just behind them was Philip Hamprecht of #TeamStarChase who was only .007 of a second off Bamber’s time.

It was a mega race for van der Drift who the charged off the line and defended his P1 position all the way to the top step of the podium. The #KamlungRacing talent reached the finish line just ahead of Bamber who raced hard lap-on-lap to clinch second in a strong push for championship points. Completing the podium for the first round of the day was #TeamJebsen challenger #CuiYue who had a brilliant race and sealed his first podium finish of the season! His P3 also won Team Jebsen their first victory in the #PorscheDealerTrophy competition!

In the final race of the season, Martin Ragginger proved victorious in Round 12, taking over the lead from his skilled opponent Philip Hamprecht of #TeamStarChase. The two where wheel-to-wheel after what was an eruption of action throughout Round 12. In the end, the #TeamPorscheHolding power prevailed, with Ragginger taking P1, Hamprecht 2nd and Tanart Sathienthirakul just behind for a superb end to his season, ending proudly on the podium in 3rd.

With Raggi’s win Team Porsche Holding took home one more #PorscheDealerTrophy in the tight dealer competition.
