The 60th year of motor racing at Teretonga Park near Invercargill began over the weekend.
On Saturday past and present competitors and members gathered for a standing quarter and circuit laps followed by a race meeting featuring Clubmans Saloons and Sports & Racing Cars presented by Downer on Sunday.
Bradley Dawson of Invercargill came through the field in Sunday’s damp conditions to win the first two Group A Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubman Saloon races in his Toyota Trueno, taking the first from Jason Crosbie (Fiat 125) and the second from Jeremy Dawson (Toyota Starlet). In Class B Andrew Muir of Gore in a Honda Civic and Stuart Mitchell of Otautau in a Pre 65 Valiant shared the wins. In the Class races Colin Dawson of Invercargill won the 2501cc & over race in his Camaro while in the smaller classes Dean Maw of Invercargill took the 1601-2500cc Class in his Mazda RX7, Jeremy Dawson the 1301-1600cc Class and Todd Blackmun the 0-1300cc Class in his Star Car. Colin Dawson also took the Flying Farewell from Jason Crosbie and Blackmun.
Brendon Leitch won all four races in the Sports & Racing Car Class in his Ralt RT4 with Trevor Earley of Invercargill in a Reynard taking two second places and a third and Damon Leitch two seconds and two thirds with Jordan Michels picking up a third place.
The next meeting at the circuit is on Sunday 4 December.
