While they may have missed the first round of the Carter’s Tyres South Island Endurance Series the International Motorsport Audi’s of Andrew Bagnall/Matt Halliday and Neil Foster/Jonny Reid dominated the 3 Hour race at the Mike Pero Motrpsort Park in Christchurch with a 1-2 finish.
Third home were the father and son pairing and 2015 title holders from Christchurch, Angus and George MacFarlane (Porsche 911) with Smeg Racing’s Simon Evans and Callum Quin (SuperTourer V8), and the Camaro GT3 of Glenn Smith and John DeVeth fourth and fifth.
Series sponsors and round one winners Dwayne and Matt Carter (Mercedes-AMG SLS GT3) came home sixth and will take the lead of the series heading into the final round in Timaru 14 October.
Trass Family Motorsport’s Gene Rollinson and Andrew Fawcett proved to be the biggest threat to the leading Audi of Bagnall and Halliday but mechanical issues eventually ruled them out of the race while battling for the lead.
