Nationally-ranked South Island karters Chris Cox (pictured), William Exton and Louis Sharp spearhead an impressive 70+ entry for the second, double-header, round of this year’s Properly Plastered-backed Mainland Series at Invercargill and Dunedin this weekend.
Cox, Exton and Sharp were three of the stand-out performers at the opening rounds of this year’s six-day/five venue series at the Insite-sponsored 2018 Sunbelts double-header meeting at Blenheim and Nelson over Queen’s Birthday weekend and all three are entered for this weekend’s Southern Series double-header in the Deep South.
Exton, from Picton and Sharp from Christchurch, both lead the points in their respective classes (Exton Rotax Max Jnr, Sharp Vortex Mini ROK) after the first two rounds. Cox, meanwhile, enjoys the distinction of heading the points in not one but two classes, Open and Rotax Max Light, after winning both at the Sunbelts meeting in June.
There are good entries across all eight classes with Rotax Max Heavy (15) and Rotax Max Light (11) the best supported on the Senior classes and 11 across the two weight divisions in the new club-level Briggs LO206 4-stroke category.
There is an equally impressive entry across the three Junior classes with 15 entered in Rotax Max Junior and 11 each in Vortex Mini ROK and Cadet ROK.
After the Southern Series double header round in Invercargill and Dunedin this weekend the fifth and sixth round double header final will be hosted by Christchurch club KartSport Canterbury at its annual Garden City Championships meeting over the September 29/30 weekend.
