Once again Gareth Evans was the leading light for the Ashburton Car Club at the Canterbury Interclub Series Round 4, Ruapuna, Mid-winter Autocross run by the Canterbury Car Club on June 22nd 2024.
The chasing pack was led by Neil Gardner in his nimble BZR 7 Lotus replica with John Rathgen (GR Yaris) in third. Ashburton Car Club’s trio of Nathan Clark (WRX), Chris Thompson (Mirage) and Greg Cross (Impreza) took the next three places and collected 48-points, which, with the 20 Evans earned and the 12 Mitchell Lovett (Mirage) grabbed was enough to edge the home team by five. Ratec’s three entries earned 26 and the sole Autosport man added 8-points to their halfway point total.
The 38 entries and the superb weather made for a great day and a big thanks goes to all the volunteers as it does for every motorsport event. of high quality and with the weather being perfect a close competition ensued.
