Loch Fitzgerald-Symes has confirmed he will pilot the third Track Tec Racing 2019 Audi RS3 LMS TCR, in the 2021 Allied Petroleum New Zealand TCR Championship round at Highlands Motorsport Park, Cromwell, at the end of April.

“I love cars and love racing and am definitely looking forward to this year’s inaugurel NZ TCR Championship. It should set the platform for TCR in NZ and in the future, hopefully, give many young drivers like myself another, path to racing around the world. If the opportunity arises I would love to have a crack at the Australian TCR series later this year.”

Fitzgerald-Symes completes the Track Tec Racing line up for the alongside four-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Greg Murphy, and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion, Chris van der Drift.

Fitzgerald-Symes joins the grid as one of the more experienced TCR drivers in NZ, having raced in the format since 2016.  Though not as well known as some of the other drivers announced, he is not to be underestimated having won both NIERDC and SIERDC as well as a National Endurance title behind the wheel of a TCR car.

Loch Fitzgerald-Symes drove the Track Tec Racing Audi TCR alongside international TCR endurance driver Rowan Shepherd in last year’s South Island Endurance Series as a way to learn the South Island tracks and the pair proved through speed and reliability that they had what it took to be Champions.

As well as the overall New Zealand Touring Car Championship title, the recently announced prize of free entry into any of the remaining 2021 TCR Australia rounds, including the Bathurst International event, is on offer at Highlands.

The Super Production Series incorporates both the Allied Petroleum TCR and Production Racing Championships’ on the same grid.  The one-round only at the Highlands Motorsport Park will see three races over two days to decide the NZ titles for both categories, 23-24 April 2021.
