Nothing could stop Liam MacDonald of Invercargill at Round 3 of the Evolution Motorsport ClubSport Championship at Teretonga Park on Saturday. MacDonald won both the Motorkhana and Autocross events but to do so he had to replace a blown CV Joint on his Nissan Pulsar in record time.
MacDonald struck the problem on the sealed Motorkhana section and carried out the replacement work in a matter of minutes returning to smash out a stunning time to contribute to his victory. ClubSport convenor Malcolm Mitchell described the feat as “very impressive, keeping in mind this is a job that would normally take many hours at your local garage.”
Andrew Kennedy was second in the Motorkhana in his Toyota Starlet with Craig Allan (Honda Prelude) third.
Allan, driving his Nissan 180SX, was second behind MacDonald in the Autocross, with Josh Cooper third in his Toyota Corolla. Cooper won the 0-1600cc Class from Cole McKinnon (Toyota FX7) David Richardson (Honda Civic).
Sixteen-year-old Meleaha Wood who is currently aiming for her restricted licence contested her first Motorkhana in a Honda Civic, great extra-curricular training as she prepares to gain her licence.
The next round of the championship will be held at Teretonga Park on Saturday 20 November.
