Paddon imports a TCR Hyundai

Paddon Rallysport’s new premises were opened at the Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell with the announcement that WRC driver Hayden Paddon has a Hyundai TCR (Touring Car Racing) car heading to NZ, expected to land here in May.

“We’re thrilled to be getting the TCR Hyundai,” commented Paddon. “At this stage there are no plans to race it, we will just have to wait and see.

“We need a Hyundai track car for some of the projects that we are working on and this suits nicely. In fact, if you want a Hyundai race car there is very little to chose from and this TCR car is already homologated.”

With the confirmation this week from Motorsport New Zealand that a new TCR series will race in NZ later in 2020, there is an opportunity that the car will be on the grid for the new series.

“That’s not necessarily in our plans just yet. That may well happen but ultimately it is for our own use and development. Based at Highlands (Motorsport Park) we have easy access to the track so it will feature in what we do here.”
