The Porsche Endurance Trophy New Zealand will be decided this weekend at the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship at Hampton Downs on March 21-23, as part of the NextGen Championship Series.
There has been a fiercely competitive battle among the Open Class category. Rick Armstrong currently holds the lead in the Porsche Endurance Trophy by 90-points. Luke Manson’s recent form at Highlands moved him to second place, 27-points ahead of Sam Fillmore. Both remain in title contention, though they would need Armstrong to falter in the final round.
Marco Giltrap has clinched the Junior Pro title with his Giltrap Group Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Car. Giltrap has been dominant across all races and put pressure on the other class categories.
In the GT4 class, Zoe Woods is currently in the lead by 90-points but will be edged out by Tony and Kent Quinn in the final round, as she will not compete at Hampton Downs this weekend.
Rick Armstrong heads to the Hampton Downs finale with the potential to claim both the Porsche New Zealand Endurance Trophy and the overall Summerset GT New Zealand Championship.
The weekend will conclude with a prizegiving in conjunction with the Summerset GT NZ Championship award ceremony. The Porsche Endurance Trophy New Zealand first-place prize is a 18,000km trip to Stuttgart, Germany to be recognised by Porsche at the ‘Night of Champions’ later this year.
