Queenstown endurance team bounce back with championship win

Just when you thought they were out, Queenstown based endurance team M Developments fired back with a national championship win in Class B of the Three-Hour 2020 New Zealand Endurance Championship at Highlands Motorsport Park, Cromwell, on Saturday.

The team started the season strong with a Class B win at Teretonga PArk in Invercargill, then proceeded to have 2 DNF’s following a gearbox and turbo issue.

This broke their winning streak of three-time Class B South Island Endurance Series champions.

“The past few years have been really successful for us so to end this season without taking out the South Island title was disappointing” said Barry Moore.

With a line up of six TCR’s on the starting grid, as part of Class B (2001-3500cc), there was plenty of competition to keep the team pushing hard during the national championship, including ex WRC driver Hayden Paddon in his Hyundai i30N TCR.

“We knew we had to have a balance of speed, pace and a cool head to be in the running given the competition.

“We were gutted that the TrackTec Audi ended up off the track as we had a great battle with them at Teretonga and were hoping to do the same here for first position” said co-driver Tim Mackersy.

Moore and Mackersy took home the Class B national title for the 3rd time in their Volkswagen Motorsport Golf GTI TCR.
