Connor Adam made it three from three in the penultimate round of the Pirelli Porsche Championship on Saturday at Hampton Downs. Heavy rain and strong wins didn’t stop the 19-car grid from lining up for three great races.
“It was great, we did a clean sweep for the second time and I am rapt,” commented Adam. “The guys and my fellow work mates from IMS did a great job on the car for me and it was really good to be back behind the wheel of the Porsche once again.”
Driving a 2011 Porsche 977 GT 3 Cup Car in Gen 2 spec and in stock standard form, Adam took pole (1:15.978) from Kris Bostock (1:16.522) and Brent Greer (1:17.857).
The top three in qualifying finished the opening race in that order with the win going to Adam. Bostock finished second to Adam in Race 2 with Struan Robertson third and Greer fourth.
In the Race 3, a 30-minute Enduro, Robertson went one better finishing second to Adam with Robert Dong third. A compulsory pitstop with the length of time determined by race times in the opening two races saw Connor Adam with the longest stop. Despite this and two safety car periods, Adam went on to win by 14-seconds.
For the Connor Adam Motorsport team the refection of another clean sweep weekend adds more weight to the plans of what the future holds for this young Auckland racer. It’s all positive and it all has a great slant towards more with Porsche.
