Christchurch’s Jeff Judd has won the Stadium Finance Mainland Rally Series after finishing second in the one day South Canterbury Spring Rally on Saturday. Runner-up was Deane Buist (Ford Escort) who came home in fourth, finishing just one point behind Judd. The overall winner of the rally was Carter Strang (Mitsubishi Evo 6). Dave Quantock finished third in both the rally and the overall Mainland Series.

“I got what I wanted which was pleasing as to be honest I didn’t think I had a show,” commented Judd (Subaru). “We were lucky we had a clean run as plenty of others didn’t.”

It is the the third Mainland Rally Series title for Judd with his last coming in 2007.

Top seeds Josh Marston and co-driver Mark Leonard suffered two punctures in the third stage having won the opening two in their Holden Barina AP4. This resulted in their pulling out of the rally as they could not start the fourth stage.
