The pairing of Josh Marston and Andrew Graves (Holden Barina AP4) head into the 2020 Westland Rally as top seed for the one day opening round of the 2020 Mainland Rally Series.
A favourite amongst teams, the Westland Rally is used by many as a shakedown for the national NZ Rally Championship which gets underway at Rally Otago in four weeks time.
This year’s event will see 57 cars tackle eight Special Stages totaling 106km with approximately 245km of touring based in the Grey and Westland Districts.

2019 winners Brad Harris and Glenn Simpson (Mitubishi Evo6), have not entered while second home pairing of Garet Thomas/Gemma Thomas (Subaru WRX) will take to the 2020 rally seeded fifth behind Matt Summerfield/Nicole Summerfield (Mitsi Mirage AP4) and Job Quantock/Grant Marra (Skoda AP4). The No1 seeding has been been left vacant in memory of the late Les Harris.
The Mainland Rally Series comprises six events. Rally Otago hosts the second round (Saturday only) with the Canterbury Rally (31st May) the third followed by Rally South Canterbury (20 June) Catlin’s Rally (8 August) and Rally Hanmer (26 September).
The first Westland Rally car leaves the Recreation Hotel in Greymouth at 9am on Saturday with the finish expected at approximately 16:05 from the same location.
