Paddon Update: Pacific Cup in the cabinet

Hayden Paddon updates us on the weekend action…………….

We achieved one of our 2019 goals last weekend by winning the FIA Pacific Cup title. We headed to the Eureka Rush Rally, near Ballarat (Melbourne) driving a local team’s, Walkem MotorSport Hyundai R5.

The single-day event didn’t go without its challenges after a broken bolt in the front suspension stopped us on one of the earlier stages. Making repairs and re-joining for the afternoon, we were able to win heat 2 and take enough points to win the Pacific Cup which included two rounds in New Zealand (Rally Otago and Rally Whangarei) and two in Australia. We then had a trouble-free run, winning 6 from 6 stages and really enjoyed the conditions.

A huge thanks to the team for a big effort over the weekend to keep the car going, and also to Samantha Gray who did a great job on her first international rally.

So what’s next? Our very busy time continues – in fact, it was nice to have a rally in the weekend as a chance to have a little downtime. This week we are travelling the country with our book tour which has been well received so far. Our autobiography, Driven, is available in all major New Zealand book stores or you can purchase online from Mighty Ape. To redeem your free delivery on Mighty Ape use the code DRIVEN courtesy to Hyundai New Zealand. Offer ends on 30th September 2019.

Episode 2 of Driven: The Paddon Rallysport story video documentary is also now live.

Next week it’s time to head back to Europe for our next event in the Rallycross, whilst the team busily prepares for Ashley Forest Rallyspint which is in just over 3 weeks’ time. Keep an eye out for an email early next week for your chance to win tickets!

Thanks for all your support and look forward to seeing you at some events soon.

Hayden
