Steady start for Paddon at Rally Italia Sardegna

Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon completed three runs in quick succession of the shakedown stage on Thursday morning (CEST), setting the second fastest time overall before returning to the service park in Alghero. He said: “Nice comfortable feeling with car at Shakedown and now ready for the rally after some small changes.”

Rally Italia Sardegna formally got underway on Thursday evening with the 2km Ittiri arena super special stage where drivers went head to head. Paddon set the fifth quickest time of 2.04.3 against stage winner Sebastien Ogier’s time of 2.02.7.

Paddon said: “Nice clean start with stage 1 tonight keeping it nice and smooth. Weather forecast looking more promising for tomorrow so can’t wait!”

Friday’s rally action gets underway from 8.30am CEST (6.30pm NZ) with four stages which are repeated morning and afternoon for a total of 126km of competition.
