14th to 4th for Cassidy in Super Formula

Despite a disappointing qualifying for Nick Cassidy, the Kiwi driver has bounced back from 14th on the grid to finish a credible fourth at the latest round of the 2019 Super Formula Series at Sportland Sugo in Japan.

“What a race,” exclaimed Cassidy. “From 14 to 4th! We ran a no refueling strategy which made it tough at times but we pulled it off. Still second in Championship “

Known for his mastering of race strategy, Cassidy, along with several other drivers pitted after the opening lap of the race to change from the medium to soft tyre.

For the rest of the 68-lap race which included several safety-car periods, Cassidy continued to move forward to finish fourth overall.

Series leader Naoki Yamamoto took the win. Second home was Kamui Kobayashi ahead of former Toyota Racing Series driver Austrian Lucas Auer.

The next round takes place at the Fuji Speedway 13-14 July 2019
