Scott Dixon leads the Verizon IndyCar Series championship with two races to go for the second time in his career. Dixon has a 26-point advantage heading into Sunday’s Grand Prix of Portland in Oregon, the penultimate round of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series. Having led the championship since his win at Texas Motor Speedway on June 9, Dixon leads Alexander Rossi by 26 points with Will Power (-68) and Josef Newgarden (-78) just behind. With 54 maximum points available at Portland, the points lead could change for the eighth time in 2018.

Although five different drivers can mathematically win the title, three real contenders have emerged with just two races left on the calendar, all on the podium at last weekend’s final speedway (oval) round of the season in Illinois. Winner Will Power has moved within 68-points of Dixon while Alexander Rossi’s second place reduced his margin to Dixon. Portland and the finale at Sonoma in a fortnight’s time are both road courses that suit Dixon. Neither of the three have won at Portland which hasn’t hosted the series since 2007 while both Dixon and Power have each won three times at Sonoma.

Drivers face 105 laps at the Portland International Raceway starting at 12:09pmm on Sunday (local time).
