Cassidy back in Super Formula action at Twin Ring Motegi this weekend

Nick Cassidy is back in action this weekend as the Super Formula Series has its fifth race this weekend at the Twin Ring Motegi.

The Twin Ring Motegi celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and presents drivers and teams with a different layout and challenge from the previous round at Fuji Speedway. It has a reputation of being hard on brakes and coupled with traditionally hot weather, teams will need to be aware of the impact on both tyres and brakes.

Yokohama Rubber is introducing new soft tyres to go along with the medium spec tyres. New tyres were used in several tests in the first half of the season and the softer type was selected for use. They are said to have even more grip than those of last season but have a considerably shorter life. The track at Motegi is smooth to begin with, and considering the fact that Friday during the free practice will be the first time the drivers will see the new tyres, quickly finding the sweet spot and making the best use of them should play a big part in the overall scheme of things.

Cassidy had his best finish in the second round at Okayama Circuit finishing in the podium on third. He currently lies 11th overall on three points with leader Hiroaki Ishiura on 20.5 points.
