Louis Sharp steps away from FIA F3 with two rounds remaining

Kiwi FIA F3 driver Louis Sharp will leave his PREMA Racing team with two rounds remaining after the two parties agreed to end his campaign early. He will sit out the remaining two events at Monza in Italy and Madrid in Spain.

“I will not be competing in the remaining rounds of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season,” commented Sharp. “The reality of competing at this level is that it requires significant financial backing. We’ve worked incredibly hard to make this season possible, but unfortunately continuing for the remaining rounds is no longer financially viable.

“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped get me onto the F3 grid this year. To my partners, family and supporters who have backed me — thank you. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

“I also want to thank Stephen, Swampy and everyone at PREMA. This season hasn’t delivered the results we all wanted, but I’ve learnt a huge amount and I’m grateful for the support the team has shown me throughout the year and during this time.

“This changes the immediate path, but it doesn’t change the goal. My focus now turns to securing the right opportunity to take the next step in 2027.”

“Louis has been a pleasure to have in the team this year and a top talent,” Team Principal and CEO Stephen Mitas said.

“His qualifying pace and raw speed were consistently strong, and he brought great energy to everyone around him at PREMA.”
