Maiden Super Formula win for Nick Cassidy

Having already taken pole position for the latest Super Formula race at Fuji Speedway, Nick Cassidy has taken his maiden win in the series. It was a lights to flag victory that has resulted in Cassidy moving to just one point from championship leader Naoki Yamamoto with three rounds remaining.

Cassidy and second-placed Hiroaki Ishiura dominated the 55-lap race, beating the rest of the field by 28.4s. From the start Cassidy fended off a fierce fight from Ishiura and Yuki Sekiguchi, who both got off to a solid start to the 250 km (55 lap) race.

After the field had all completed their tyre changes by lap 44, Cassidy had a 3.1 sec lead over Ishiura which he increased to 4.28 sec at the end.

After completing four rounds, drivers and teams head to the Twin Ring Motegi round 18-19 August.
