Mixed bag for Cassidy at Motegi

A mixed result for Kiwi driver Nick Cassidy at the latest round of the Japanese F3 Championship has seen his Petronas Team Tom’s team mate Kenta Yamashito draw level on points with one round remaining. Cassidy finished the round at Twin Ring Motegi with a second and a fifth and is currently first equal in the championship with Yamashito on 105 points. Nirei Fukuzumi won both races and is fourth overall.

“Second place in the first race, I’m really happy with the result as I gave it everything,” commented Cassidy. “Congratulations to Nirei Fukuzumi on his first win in the championship. I was comfortably second quickest and able to extend my championship lead.”

Qualifying for both races was also a mixed affair for Cassidy. “It was a qualifying of two half’s. I was really happy with P2 for race 14. Unfortunately I was really unlucky with tyres in the second qualifying session and was only fifth fastest.”
