New Zealand has a habit of producing world class racing driver talent, with Mitch Evans, Richie Stanaway and Nick Cassidy being some of the latest young NZ stars on the world stage. All three of these young champions stepped out of the proving ground in New Zealand Formula Ford to hone their skills further in the Australian Formula Ford scene.

In this last week, another young NZ star has stepped up and tested in Australia, at both Winton Raceway and the famous Phillip Island circuit. Jordan Michels, still in his first year of racing car competition is showing the same confidence and determination as those drivers that have come before him.

Greg Woodrow, owner of Mygale Australia and the agent for the dominant Mygale cars in both Australia and New Zealand said Jordan showed he has the ability to run with the best.

“Jordan adapted well to the more powerful Duratec Mygale Formula Ford and was able to put in lap times that we are very pleased with. His professional approach and raw speed are an indicator that we are looking at another very fast New Zealand driver with a big future”

In New Zealand, Jordan drives the Hydraulink SJ13a Mygale Formula Ford prepared and run by the experienced team at Evolution Motorsport, and he is locked into the South Island Formula Ford series and the NZFF championship for this year.

Plans to race in Australia are also coming along with options to test and race in both the Mygale Factory Formula Ford, and the Race Academy Porsche 997 GT3.

Formula Ford is having a huge resurgence in both Australia and New Zealand. In both countries, as a class, it looks like Formula Ford is still the pathway to success, and Jordan Michels is sprinting up that path right now…
