Louis Sharp has finished on the podium at the latest 2022 ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA round at Thruxton on Saturday. Having qualified third, the Kiwi claimed the podium and then finished sixth in the second of three races for the round.
“From third I wanted a podium from race one and that is what we got, so I can’t really ask for much more,” commented Sharp. “I got a good start but then got boxed in a little and nearly lost P3.
“I was happy to hold onto the place we were running well behind the top two when the safety car came out. I was a bit gutted as we lost the advantage we had over fourth place, but I built a gap again after the restart and this is a positive start.”
Championship leader Alex Dunne won a lights-to-flag first race from Carlin’s Ugo Ugochukwu and Louis Sharp.
In the second race, pole-sitter Oliver Stewart withstood pressure from his team-mate Eduardo Coseteng who finished second and Mercedes F1 junior Daniel Guinchard who finished third.
Sunday features one more action-packed, 20-minute race.
