Kiwi driver Jacob Douglas had a strong weekend competing in the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire championship, twice standing on the podium at Road America in Wisconsin.
The Elite Engines Grand Prix of Road America kicked off with a pair of 15-lap races, both of which were dominated by the overall points leader Max Garcia.
Exclusive Autosport’s Mac Clark, from Milton, Ont., Canada, and Garcia’s teammate Jacob Douglas, from Christchurch, New Zealand, shared the other two podium positions in both races.
“I had a good start off of P3,” commented Douglas after the opening race. “I got into P2 on the first lap. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and went back to P3 and just stayed there the whole race really. I was trying my best to catch Mac and move forward into second and try and make a charge for the win but, unfortunately, I couldn’t quite get there.

“It was a great Race Two here at Road America. We started P4, moved up to P2 on the start and then I was shuffled back a little bit to P4. On the restart, I made a great move around the outside challenging for the lead, but couldn’t quite get it done and we came home second. Massive thanks to all the Pabst Racing guys. The car’s been great all weekend.”
The final race of the weekend saw Douglas finish eighth with VRD Racing’s Max Taylor taking the win. Douglas sits sixth on the points table. Fellow Kiwi Seb Manson finished 12th, 17th and 15th across the three-race weekend.
USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire will return to action in two weeks’ time, once again in support of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, on July 3-6.
