Over the past three seasons, Kiwi Motorsport has claimed the Team Championship in the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. In an effort to continue their winning streak, Kiwi Motorsport has added 22-year-old New Zealander Ryan Yardley to their 2020 Winter Series lineup. Yardley, who has raced in Australia and New Zealand over the past couple of years, will be making his debut in the United States.
“I am super excited to make my racing debut here in America,” Yardley said. “I have spent a fair bit of time here in America this year and have been lucky enough to drive a fair bit, but it’s nice to get back racing after 18 months off.”
While Yardley, like many other drivers, was unable to compete this past season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has an impressive racing resumé making him a perfect addition to the team. In 2019, Yardley competed in the CAMS Payce Australian Formula 4 Championship, where he claimed a second-place finish at the Australian Grand Prix. In 2017, Yardley earned the Toyota 86 Championship after finishing on the podium in fourteen races and claiming two wins. Yardley was also the Rookie of the Year in the Toyota Racing Series in 2018, claiming a podium in the international field.
The New Zealand based team is excited to have a fellow New Zealander joining their team for the upcoming season.
“Once again it is fantastic to run another Kiwi here in the States,” said Garry Orton. “Ryan is a family friend and I have followed his career over the years and know he will do really well.”
“It’s awesome to be joining the current Formula 4 United States Team Champions,” added Yardley. “They have fast cars no doubt, and the results will come down to how well I can drive the car. Massive thank you to Garry and Teena from Kiwi Motorsport for the opportunity to come and race with them. I couldn’t be doing this without them.”
With the 2021 Formula 4 United States Championship schedule just released, Kiwi Motorsport will continue their preparations for the upcoming season that is quickly approaching. Stay tuned for more announcements as Kiwi Motorsport continues to finalize their 2021 program.
