Louis Sharp has finished third across the line in only his second ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA race at Brands Hatch. Making his debut in the category, Sharp finished the opening race in the points finishing tenth having qualified in ninth, then in Race 2 was relegated to sixth after a post-race penalty was applied.
“Having raced to third on the track, I was given a five second post-start penalty for an apparent pre-race infringement when warming up tyres by weaving on the way to the grid,” commented Sharp. “This drops me to sixth place. Frustrating but I still finished the race itself on the podium.
“In Race 1 I stalled on the grid but batted back to finish tenth and score a point in my first F4 race. Onwards and upwards – another lesson learned.”
Having competed in both Formula First and Formula Ford back home in New Zealand, the 15-year-old took the opportunity to head to the UK to compete in Formula 4 with Carlin. Sharp had to sit out the opening round at the beginning of the month due to being under-age (14), with his 15th birthday falling in time to compete in round two.
There is one more race at Brands Hatch this weekend. The next round(3/10) takes place at Thruxton 27 May 2022.
