Nick Cassidy has finished sixth in the opening Super Formula Series race at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Japan. It was his Super GT Series team mate Rya Hirakawa who stole the show, claiming a lights to flag victory.
Cassidy, the 2019 Super Formula champion, started from 11th on the grid and was able to take advantage of a number of drivers’ misfortune ahead of him.
Hirakawa was followed home by Kenta Yamashita in P2, Teammate rookie Sacha Fenestraz in P3, followed by Kazuki Nakajima, Nirei Fukuzumi, and Nick Cassidy in P6.
The next round is scheduled to take place at the Okayama Circuit 26-27 September.
