Welcome Race Fans to yet another year of Motor Racing, I can’t wait. The best part is we have EXPANDED for Season 2016. With the support of my Team’s naming rights sponsor Wilson Security along with PAYCE and long time partner Valvoline the GRM Team will field four cars across the V8 Supercar Championship and V8 Dunlop Series Championship.
Today we unveiled our 2016 liveries, with the Volvo S60s of James Moffat and Scott McLaughlin sporting a new blue/white combination. To be totally honest I wasn’t sold on the idea, but I must admit that the end product with my own special touch on the numbers has made me reconsider my earlier reservations. Car liveries are very difficult as you are often damned if you do and damned if you don’t make changes. I believe that our Volvo over the past two seasons has looked great and has been easily identifiable, but I also understand that both the fans and the sponsors like to see and often expect a new look every season. I hope that there are more liker’s than disliker’s, I’ll leave that to you all!
As much as I am really looking forward to V8 Supercar Championship I am equally as excited by our two car assault in the Dunlop Series which has been supported by Wilson, PAYCE, Valvoline, Gippsland Body Builders and Archiclad. Last year James “Bieber” Golding did a very respectable job in his first year driving a V8 and I certainly believe that he can develop further this season. Bieber ‘s team mate is Richard Muscat who has progressed to the Dunlop Series after a very good year in the competitive Carrera Cup where he finished 6th in the Championship.
Days like today make me really proud of the workforce that I have. Cowboy (Dean Cowling) and his team of workers have been working tirelessly to not only prepare all four cars for the season ahead but also to make sure the presentation is to a standard that all of us; meaning my Team, Sponsor group and fans can be proud of.
I look forward to sharing Season 2016 with you all and as always come along and say hello when you are at the races.
Garry
