West Australia’s defending King of the Mountain, Brodie Kostecki, has joined two of Supercars all-time greats, by securing pole position for tomorrow’s 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000 after a stunning lap in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, continuing his dominance at Mount Panorama.
The Shell V-Power Ford driver clocked 2:04.0413s, narrowly missing his own Gen3 record set on Friday, and joined legends Allan Moffat and Peter Brock as only the third driver to claim three consecutive Great Race poles.
Kostecki will share the #38 Ford Mustang with Todd Hazelwood in Sunday’s 161-lap classic, which begins at 11:45am AEDT.
Starting alongside Kostecki and Hazelwood will be another favourite duo for the Great Race, Cam Waters and Mark Winterbottom, who will start from second spot on the grid.
Kostecki and Hazelwood won the 2024 Bathurst 1000 from starting in pole position last year.
Four Fords will occupy the top four spots on the grid for tomorrow’s race, which is expected to be run with some rain on the circuit.
The best of the Chevrolet drivers on the grid will be Broc Feeney and Jamie Whincup, who start from fifth.
“It’s just amazing honestly, that lap was something special seeing all the fans and getting all the cheers over the fence,” said Kostecki.
“We’re starting off the best possible spot we can, so can’t wait to share the car with Toddy tomorrow.”
The Shootout delivered drama and history, with Cam Waters, Chaz Mostert, and Ryan Wood completing the first all-Ford top four since 1990. Broc Feeney led the Chevrolet charge in fifth.
