Unfinished business for McLaughlin and Coulthard

Shell V-Power Power Racing Team heads into the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship season with a renewed sense of determination following a 2017 campaign that exceeded early expectations, but fell short of its ultimate goal.

Despite taking a total of 12 race wins, 17 pole positions, 27 podiums and the Teams’Championship, there is a sense of unfinished business at Shell V-Power Racing Team after getting so close to claiming the Drivers’ title in 2017.

Shell V-Power Racing Team Principal, Ryan Story said that the focus within the team over the off-season had been deeply analytical, taking stock of the entire 2017 season.

“We’ve put our 2017 performance under the microscope, focusing on the areas where we know we must improve if we’re to continue to be successful through the 2018 season,” said Story.

“Nothing is being taken for granted here, we know we made too many errors in 2017 and didn’t capitalise on our fantastic car speed at several points through the year where we most certainly should have.

“Our goal in 2018 first and foremost is to defend the Teams’ Championship title. That victory is something that we’re extremely proud of, and to be taking over the number one garage in pit lane is very special indeed,”

“Having said that, we left a fair bit on the table last year, which meant we’ve got some unfinished business this year – and into the future – in the form of the Supercars Drivers’ title, which we hope both Fabian and Scott will vie for again this season. It is this unfinished business that will keep us hungry, and drive us to always push to be better than we have been before.”
