Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen won the Busch Light Pole Award in Saturday’s qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
It was the three-car Chevrolet organization’s first pole award of the 2025 season and fourth since forming in 2021. It marked Van Gisbergen’s second Busch Light pole of his career and first in the No. 88 Chevrolet.
Van Gisbergen posted a lap of 93.904 mph in Saturday’s qualifying.
“We made some big swings last night. Our No. 88 Safety Culture Chevrolet was a bit better. We had a lot more front grip, which is what I needed. But my laps were average. You’ll see everyone was beating me on the first-half of the lap, and then my lap gets good at the end. We had a lot of speed today, which is good. It’s been a great improvement. What a really cool achievement for us and a great start for tomorrow. I’m excited, that’s really cool.”
The Justin Marks-owned Trackhouse team owns eight victories since it formed as a single-car team with Daniel Suárez. It added Ross Chastain in 2021 and Van Gisbergen in 2025. It occasionally fields a Chevrolet under the PROJECT91 banner for international driving stars like Kimi Raikkonen, Helio Castroneves and Van Gisbergen.
All three Trackhouse Racing entries will start in the top-10 for tomorrow’s race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with Chastain taking the green from third and Mexico native, Suárez from 10th.
