Christchurch racing driver Chris White has announced himself to the TA2 New Zealand Championship in the most emphatic way possible – claiming pole position and winning both races from lights to flag on his TA2 debut at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park over the weekend.
“The car was a bullet,’ said White. “I can’t thank the team enough for their efforts – the Mustang was perfectly tuned from the moment we hit the track. Adapting to the power, grip and handling of the TA2 has come naturally, drawing on everything from the GR86 championship and my recent GT4 campaign in Australia. Couldn’t have asked for a better start.”
White, 19, arrived at Round 1 as reigning Bridgestone GR86 Champion, MotorSport NZ Elite Academy winner, and a recent Monochrome GT4 race winner at Round 3 held at Queensland Raceway (Australia). By the time he left Hampton Downs on Sunday, he had added a perfect opening round to that rapidly growing résumé.
