Timaru International Raceway has hosted the opening round of the 2026 South Island Endurance Series with One-Hour overall and Class titles decided across two races.
Jordan Michels (Marc II Mustang) (main photo) stayed out of trouble to claim overall victory in the race for Class 1, 2 and 3 cars. The defending champion beat the pairing of Wei Zhou and Josh Bethune (McLaren Artura GT4) home ahead of Oliver Gibbons (Porsche 992 GT3 Cup).
The top three in Class 1 (GT3) comprised Michels, Gibbons and Garry Derrick (Porsche 992 GT3).
Class 2 (GT) was taken out by Blake Knowles (Porsche 997 GT3 Cup), ahead of Michael Nel/Tayler Bryant (Porsche 991 GT3 Cup) and Nick Wright (Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup).
Class 3 (>3501cc) was dominated and won by Zhou and Bethune, finishing ahead of the giant killing VW Golf TCR of Barry Moore and the home-brewed Porschevy of Michael Bushell.
In the One-Hour for Class 4 (2001-3,500cc + TCR) and 5 (0-2000cc) the battle that came down to the final lap which saw Grant and Cole Askew (VW Golf TCR) cross the line in P1, with Zach Ming (Audi RS3 LMS TCR) claiming P2 at his first ever race meeting at Levels. Conley Webley (BMW Z4 Cope) fills out the podium with third.
In Class 5 , Warren Walker (Honda Civic) took the win ahead of the Honda Type R of Andrew Bartlett and Andrew Litching.
