Jones edges closer to 2026 Carrera Cup Australia title

Harri Jones has gone a long way to securing the 2026 Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia title with victory in race three and a round win at Mount Panorama, Bathurst. Kiwi drivers’ Clay Osborne finished eighth while Tom Bewley did not start after retiring out of both Race 1 & 2.

The two-time champion started from pole position and led all 11 laps to claim the 33rd win of his career and 13th round win.

Jones now enjoys a 235-point lead in the championship over David Russell, after coming into the weekend 146 points up.

David Russell started second and had to be aggressive off the start line as Marcos Flack made a brilliant jump from the second row of the grid.

Russell held him off as Flack and Lachlan Bloxsom battled off turn one – Flack would get the upper hand.

As the race settled down, Dylan O’Keeffe caught Flack and made his move on lap three.

Jones managed the pace out in front and would go on to win the race by just 0.7 seconds over Russell who also finished second for the round.

O’Keeffe was third in the race – his equal best result of the season so far.

Flack was forth followed by Lachlan Bloxsom in fifth but claimed his first round podium in third.

Angelo Mouzouris, Max Geoghegan, Clay Osborne, Diesel Thomas and Glen Wood completed the top 10.

Matt Slavin secured his first round victory in Pro-Am after winning the final race of the weekend.

Slavin has been close on many occasions, three times he’s finished second for the round, but finally claimed the breakthrough round win.

A second place in the race and the round for Matt Belford means he extends his lead in the Pro-Am championship to 47 points over Slavin.

Jarjo collected third in the both the race and the round and is just two points shy of Slavin in the championship.

It’s a quick turnaround for Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia with the next round less than two weeks away at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, October 23-25.. and
