There was no let-up in the action at Round Two of the Auckland Motorcycle Club Summer Series last Saturday.

Point’s leader in the Senior category – Travis Moan fell whilst leading Race One. The resultant red flag led to a full restart, with James Hoogenboezem on the M1 Motorsport BMW S1000RR capitalising to take the win, and end the day leading the Formula One points.

Moan did not take the restart; he was out for the day. Toby Summers took out the second race, while the third Senior race was
also stopped following an accident, and eventually scrapped with no restart, nor points awarded.

In Formula Two Connor London and Bailie Perriton both shone; London taking a win, as did Daniel Mettam, however Mettam had a DNF in Race One. Marcus Beagley was a fine third overall for the Round.

The battle in Intermediate was intense – with Gavin Veltmeyer and Daniel Mettam picking up where they left off from Round One. Also in the mix were Jacob Stroud; and Ben Rosendaal on his Pro Twin spec SV650. Rosendaal has control of the Pro Twin points after two Rounds, but in Formula 3 it is a contest to see who will blink first between the trio at the top.

Chris Malcolm leads the points in 125GP, on his Honda RS125.

In contrast, the Junior category has been relatively calm. Nathanael Diprose is sweeping the 250 Production class, with six wins from six starts this season. Campbell Grayling lies second, ahead of some formidable competition. Similarly for William Ford in Lightweight Production, where the Kawasaki looks to have an edge over the KTM.

The full Hyosung Cup field also had to concede to Nathanael Diprose, who once again went on to win both races. With a 75 point lead after two Rounds, Diprose is on a mission this season, and yet to be beaten on the GT250R.

Post Classic’s saw Duncan Coutts grab a trio of wins in Pre 89 F1, with Russell Barker doing similar in Pre 82 Senior. Whilst Pre 82 Junior is highlighted by an interesting battle between Trevor Taylor, Alastair Wilton, and Phil Bagshaw – just 15 points between them after two Rounds.

Over in Clubman, a class aimed at novice riders, and experiencing a boost in numbers this season, Des Berghan and Paul Garrett retain their Junior and Senior point’s leads respectively.

Again, there is a short turn-around to Round Three of the Auckland Motorcycle Club Summer Series, with the action resuming on Sunday 15 November, at Hampton Downs.
