Kart and car ace Ryan Bailey has accepted a late invitation to step into a SsangYong Actyon racing ute at the final round of this season’s Premier Racing Series at Pukekohe Park this weekend.
Bailey, 27, is a two-time New Zealand, and three-time North Island sprint kart champion who has also raced cars successfully, his (car) career highlight to date winning three of the six rounds outright and finishing a close second in the New Zealand MINI Challenge.
With grids of 30+ identical SsangYong Actyon utes dicing wheel to wheel and often three and four-wide through the corners, the SsangYong Racing Series is one of the most popular categories on New Zealand’s Premier Racing Series roster and Bailey says he is looking forward to returning to the cut and thrust of one-make racing.
“I certainly won’t be short of someone to race against,” the former Palmerston North driver said this morning. “It’s a great category with good support.”
