The Porsche 992 of Marco Giltrap has taken victory in the first race of the weekend in the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship at Highlands Motorsport Park at Cromwell today.
Rick Armstrong in a Porsche 992 finished P2 and also retook the Championship lead from Joel Giddy (5th across the line), while Luke Manson bounced back from a disastrous day yesterday where his Porsche hit the wall, finished 3rd across the line in today’s one hour race.

In GT4, William Exton in the McLaren Artura GT4 took another win from Pole Position, cruising home comfortably from the Toyota Supra GT4 EVO of Ayrton Hodson, with the sister car Toyota of Allan Sargeant and Kaleb Ngatoa coming home in third.
The Open Class top five was rounded out by the IRC GT of James Parker in fourth with the Mercedes AMG GT2 of Joel Giddy coming home in fifth.
In GT4, the Mercedes GT4 of James Sax finished fourth, with the Ginetta G56 GT4 of Steve Scoles finishing fifth on debut in the new car.

At the start of the one-hour feature it was pole sitter Giltrap who lead the field away, fellow front row man James Parker in his IRC GT quickly getting swallowed up by the AMG of Giddy and the Porsches of Armstrong and Manson.
Giltrap quickly established a healthy lead while Giddy, Armstrong and Manson fought for the podium spots behind.
Back in GT4, Exton held the lead in his McLaren, while the Supra’s of Allan Sargeant and Ayrton Hodson battled behind.
The race was a relatively processional affair, until around the 55 minute mark, when a spin for the Porsche of Sam Filmore bought out the safety car. Filmore was able to rejoin the race, but with the clock ticking down, the chequered flag fell and the field finished under safety car.

The Summerset GT New Zealand Championship have two more 30-minute race tomorrow races, with wet weather predicted to hit the Highlands circuit.
