Barclay wants his car back

Christchurch’s Nigel Barclay wants his stolen classic Formula Ford race car and trailer back and ‘no questions asked’ after it was taken over Waitangi weekend.

Having been at the SKOPE Classic over the weekend, the locked car and trailer were stolen on Sunday night from outside his Christchurch residence.

The 1981 Van Diemen car was originally raced by Ashburton’s Andy McElrea. Barclay also raced the car in the 1989/90 national championships before selling it. Last year he re-purchased the car after it was advertised for sale on Trademe.

The car has a distinctive red and white paint job. The trailer has a dual axle with tyre rack on the front.

There have been several reported sightings of it traveling south but these remain unconfirmed. The trailer registration is 755IO.

Anyone with information can get hold of Nigel on 0274 909 077.
